WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM SEEING A CHIROPRACTOR

Chiropractic care is suitable for all ages—from newborns to the elderly.

At Connect Chiropractic, we work with people of all stages of life, including babies, children, pregnant mums, athletes, office workers, and seniors. Anyone with a spine and nervous system can benefit from chiropractic care. Because every person is unique, we tailor our adjustments to your health goals and preferences—whether you’re looking for pain relief, improved function, or long-term wellness support.

HOW LONG DOES CHIROPRACTIC TAKE TO WORK?

Healing time varies depending on your condition, lifestyle, and health goals.

The length of your chiropractic care journey depends on several factors—including the nature of your issue, how long it has been present, and how committed you are to improving your overall health. Every body heals differently. Some people experience relief after just a few sessions, while others require ongoing care to address long-standing or complex issues. At Connect Chiropractic, we tailor your care plan to your individual needs and goals.

DO YOU ACCEPT ACC AT CONNECT CHIROPRACTIC?

We don’t process ACC claims—instead, we offer a Koha (pay-what-you-can) system.

At Connect Chiropractic, we believe everyone deserves access to high-quality chiropractic care—regardless of whether their issue is the result of an accident or everyday wear and tear. That’s why we choose not to utilise ACC. Instead, we offer a Koha payment model, allowing you to contribute what is achievable for you. It’s our way of making care more accessible and community-focused.

IS CHIROPRACTIC CARE SAFE?

Yes—chiropractic care is widely recognised as a safe and effective form of natural healthcare.

Chiropractic care does not involve drugs or surgery and is backed by research supporting its safety and effectiveness. Like any form of healthcare, there are some risks—though adverse effects from chiropractic adjustments are rare. Before starting care at Connect Chiropractic, we happily take time to discuss the potential risks and benefits so you can feel confident and supported in your decision.

HOW ARE CHIROPRACTORS EDUCATED?

Chiropractors undergo extensive university-level training and ongoing professional development.

In New Zealand, becoming a chiropractor requires completing a five-year, full-time Bachelor of Chiropractic degree. This includes in-depth study in anatomy, physiology, neurology, pathology, biomechanics, radiology (X-ray), spinal adjusting techniques, and related health sciences.

After graduation, chiropractors receive the title “Dr” as recognition of their rigorous academic and clinical training. Education doesn’t stop there—chiropractors continue to attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay up to date with the latest research and techniques in chiropractic care.

HOW MUCH DOES CHIROPRACTIC CARE COST AT CONNECT CHIROPRACTIC?

We offer affordable chiropractic care with transparent pricing and a Koha (pay-as-you-can) system.

Our initial Full Chiropractic Consultation and Examination is $110, followed by a Report of Findings visit at $80.

For ongoing care, we use a Koha (pay-what-you-can) system—meaning you choose what you pay for each adjustment. We believe chiropractic should be accessible to everyone, and we’re happy to provide a simple guideline if you’re unsure what to contribute. You’re also welcome to discuss this with us during your visit.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?

No referral is needed—you can book directly here.

Chiropractors are recognised as primary healthcare providers in New Zealand, which means you can see us without a referral from your GP or another medical professional. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning for ongoing care, you’re welcome to book with us directly at any time.

WILL I HAVE TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR FOREVER ONCE I START?

Not at all—your care is always your choice.

At Connect Chiropractic, you have complete control over how often you receive care. Our role is to offer a care plan and personalised lifestyle advice to help you reach your health goals.

While we do recommend regular spinal checks to keep your spine and nervous system functioning at their best, you are never locked into ongoing care. Many people choose to continue with regular chiropractic because they experience long-term benefits—but how often you come is always up to you.

WILL CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS HURT?

Chiropractic care is generally painless, but some discomfort can occur depending on your condition.

Everyone responds differently to chiropractic adjustments. If there’s inflammation or significant tension in the area, you may feel mild discomfort or tenderness during or after care—especially in the early stages of healing. This is a normal part of the body’s response as it begins to realign and restore function.

At Connect Chiropractic, we tailor your care to your comfort level and always aim to make the experience as gentle and effective as possible.

IS IT SAFE TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR DURING PREGNANCY?

Yes—chiropractic care during pregnancy is safe, gentle, and can be highly beneficial.

Our chiropractors are specially trained and experienced in providing care for women at all stages of pregnancy. Gentle chiropractic adjustments can help relieve tension and pain, support pelvic alignment, and encourage optimal baby positioning in preparation for birth.

Many expectant mums find that regular chiropractic care contributes to a more comfortable pregnancy and can support a smoother birth experience.

WHY DO CHILDREN NEED CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

Chiropractic care supports healthy development and helps address common childhood concerns.

We believe every child deserves the best start to life, which is why we recommend having your child checked by an experienced paediatric chiropractor from birth. Parents often bring their children for care related to:

  • Feeding and attachment difficulties

  • Head-turning preferences or flat head syndrome

  • Tongue-ties and lip-ties

  • Digestive issues and colic

  • Disturbed sleep patterns

  • Recurrent ear infections or frequent illness

Gentle chiropractic adjustments can help support the nervous system, enhance comfort, and promote overall wellbeing during critical stages of development.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS?

Yes—we accept credit cards with a surcharge.

We also accept EFTPOS, cash, and even Bitcoin for your convenience. If you have any questions about payment methods or surcharges, feel free to ask our team when you arrive.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHIROPRACTOR, OSTEOPATH, AND PHYSIOTHERAPIST?

The most important thing to know here is that each profession is vastly different. A chiropractor’s expertise is the spine, the nervous system, and how it affects the rest of the body. Because philosophies and practices do vary so much from practitioner to practitioner, you’re best to ask a few different practitioners from each of the three fields to get a greater understanding.

DO YOU PROVIDE UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTIC CARE?

Yes—we assess and adjust the upper cervical spine as part of our holistic approach to chiropractic care.

The upper cervical region refers to the top two vertebrae in your neck—C1 (atlas) and C2 (axis)—located just beneath the base of your skull. These vertebrae play a vital role in brain-body communication and overall spinal function.

All of our chiropractors at Connect Chiropractic are trained to assess and adjust the upper cervical spine when necessary. While some chiropractors use techniques that focus solely on this area, our approach is holistic. We view the body as an interconnected system, and we tailor care to address the full spine and nervous system.

We use a variety of gentle and firm techniques to ensure each adjustment is suited to your individual needs.

WHAT IS WEBSTER TECHNIQUE?

The Webster Technique is a specialised chiropractic method used during pregnancy to support pelvic alignment and comfort.

This technique focuses on the sacrum, pelvis, and surrounding muscles and ligaments, aiming to reduce tension and improve alignment in the lower spine and pelvis. By addressing imbalances in these areas, the Webster Technique can help create more space in the pelvis—potentially supporting optimal positioning of the baby and improving comfort throughout pregnancy.

The goal is to enhance communication between the brain and body, support nervous system function, and prepare the body for a smoother labour and birth experience.

At Connect Chiropractic, all of our chiropractors are trained in the Webster Technique and provide gentle, tailored care for expecting mothers.
